According to a report by Carta, women remain significantly underrepresented in entrepreneurship, with only 13.2% of startup founders in 2023, a decline from 15.1% in 2022 and 14.9% in 2021, indicating a troubling trend in gender diversity within the startup ecosystem. This underrepresentation is even more pronounced in the Asia Pacific region, where only 5.7% of startups have female founders, as highlighted by a JPMorgan Chase & Co study. These figures underscore women’s persistent challenges in accessing funding, mentorship, and opportunities despite the growing recognition of their contributions to innovation and business growth.
